Limitless Rendering Support
There are four main sections of the New Render Job page: File Selection, Render Settings, Exposure Settings, and Advanced.
The General Settings are:
- File type: Select the type of file you are uploading. Your choices are "Revit FBX file" and "Revit RVT file".
- Revit FBX file Options:
- Existing .fbx File: This option is only available if you have already uploaded a .fbx file and shows a list of all .fbx files you have uploaded. You may select one of these files to render.
- New .fbx File: Select a .fbx file on your machine to upload for rendering. Note: You may only select one of Existing File or New File, but not both.
- Existing Camera File: This shows a list of all camera files you have uploaded. You may select one of these files to use as the target camera. This option is only available if you have already uploaded a camera file.
- New Camera File: Select a image file on your machine to upload for the camera view. This should be a hidden line image that you exported from the same view as the .fbx file you selected.
- Revit RVT file Options:
- New Revit File: Select a .rvt or .zip file on your machine to upload for rendering. If you have linked models or custom render appearances, combine all the files into a single .zip file.
- Revit Version: Select the version of Revit the .rvt used to create the file.
- Revit View(s): List the views or walkthroughs in the .rvt file you wish to render.
- Use File Settings: Select this to use the settings in the .rvt file exactly and ignore the rendering settings specified below on this form.
- Special Instructions: List any special instructions regarding the rendering in this file. If we have any further questions about setting up this model, we will contact you.
The Render Settings are:
- Width: The width of your final rendered image in pixels. Note that some preview images of your render may not be at this exact width, but will maintain the same aspect ratio of width to height.
- Height: The height of your final rendered image in pixels. Note that your render may not be at this exact height, but will maintain the same aspect ratio of width to height as your camera file.
- Quality: The quality of your final rendered image. You may choose from Hidden Line, Draft, Low, Medium, High, and Best. These correspond to the same quality levels found in Revit. Note that when generating preview images, they will be rendered at Low quality for the sake of speed, but your final rendered image will be at this specified quality.
- Interior: Check this box for interior scenes.
- Use Transparency: All areas containing sky will be rendered transparent and may appear white or with a white/gray checkerboard pattern. This is useful if you plan on adding your own background image.
The Exposure Settings are:
- Exposure Value: Select the exposure value for your image. This value corresponds to the same exposure value in Revit.
Your options after selecting your settings are:
- Next >>: This takes you to a quick preview of your image. The quick preview verifies that your exposure and lighting settings are what you expect. This preview render is free of charge.
If you choose to adjust your camera, you will be presented with two images. The image on the left is the camera image you selected, and the image on the right is a rendered preview. You simply have to drag the preview image over your uploaded image until the features match up. Resize the preview image to get a better match across the image.
This process is best illustrated in the Camera Adjustment documentation with an example courtesy of Hilliard Architects.
Select My Scenes from the top menu and all your rendering jobs will be displayed.
When your final render completes successfully, that scene will be displayed in your list of jobs. You will see a smaller thumbnail of your scene. Click the thumbnail for the full sized image, or click "Download full-size image" to download the image to your computer. In addition to these options, you will have three more options:
- Hide: This removes the render job from the main list. Show your job by selecting Show All Rendering Jobs to see all your hidden jobs.
- Change Settings: This will take you to the New Render Jobs screen with all the settings for this job selected. Adjust your settings and submit a new job with the modified settings.
- Adjust Exposure: Perform basic exposure, color saturation, and white balance settings
When you submit a full render job, that job will be displayed in your list of jobs. You will have one option:
- Hide: This removes the render job from the main list. Show your job by selecting Show All Rendering Jobs to see all your hidden jobs.
When you submit a render preview, that job will show up in your list of jobs and you will have three options:
- Adjust Preview: If your preview has not yet completed, this will take you to the "waiting" screen. If your preview has completed, "adjust preview" will take you to the preview screen. On the preview screen, adjust your settings or submit a full job.
- Hide: This removes the render job from the main list. You may still go to Show All Rendering Jobs to see all your hidden jobs.
- Cancel: This will cancel the current preview job.
After your preview completes, the job will be displayed in your job list. The preview image of your scene will be displayed with five options:
- Adjust Preview: If your preview is not yet complete, you will be taken to the "waiting" screen. If your preview has completed, you will be taken to the preview screen. On the preview screen, adjust your settings or submit a full job.
- Hide: This removes the render job from the main list. You may still go to Show All Rendering Jobs to see all your hidden jobs.
- Change Settings: This will take you to the New Render Jobs screen with all the settings selected. Adjust your settings and submit a new job with the modified settings.
- Adjust Exposure: Adjust basic exposure, color saturation, and white balance settings
Select My Profile from the top menu and then select Edit to edit your name, email, and cluster login. Select "Save Changes" when done.
Select My Profile from the top menu and then select Change Password to change your password. Select "Save Changes" when done.
Select Users from the top menu and then select Add User. Fill in all the fields and select "Add User" to save the changes.
Note: By default, this user does not have access to the render service. You must return to Users and select the new user, click "Edit User" and change their permissions. This is a security feature that ensures new users do not have more permissions than necessary.
Each user will have their own login and password, and will be able to see and download all the renders your company has done.
Select Users from the top menu and then select the desired user to delete. Then select "Delete User" to remove the user from the system.
Note: All renders done by this user will be deleted. All files (.fbx, camera files, etc) uploaded by this user will be deleted.
Limitless Rendering Troubleshooting
Basic brightness, color saturation and white balance can be adjusted by selecting "Adjust Exposure" next to the rendered image. From there use the sliders to adjust the image to the exact brightness you need without having to use a complex image editing program.
This requires adjusting the camera. An example for adjust the camera was provided courtesy of Hilliard Architects.
As a security measure, new users do not have access to anything unless you explicitly grant them access. You must go to Users and select the new user, then click "Edit User" and change their permissions. This is a security feature that ensures new users do not have more permissions than necessary.
Please double check:
- You selected "Interior" if your image is an interior image
- Your exposure value matches your exposure value in Revit
- If your camera has moved, you will need to adjust your camera
